Vida Vino brings the essence of the Mediterranean to Keong Saik Road

About Vida Vino

Vida Vino, a chic space that echoes the 50’s in a vibrant way, reflects what Vida Vino stands for – meaning ‘Wine Life’ in Spanish. It is a place where the beauty and the vibrancy of Spain meets the classic elegance of the Mediterranean – an honest space that pays homage to bygone days.

Vida Vino offers a casual dining experience, yet has fine attention to detail. The tapas are served in a fun-to-share manner. It is situated right in the heart of Singapore’s vibrant food scene at 29 Keong Saik Road in Singapore.

Food

The restaurant sources the highest quality, most fresh ingredients to produce its dishes. For example, the 5 Jotas Pure Iberico Jamon de Bellota, which is air flown weekly to Singapore from Jabugo in Spain; or clams that are flown in from France twice a week. These ingredients, prepared in a time-honoured tradition, give the savoury morsels produced in the Vida Vino kitchen their bona fide Mediterranean flavour. The dishes are creatively presented and the menu has a few modern twists, such as the Crispy Beer Tempura Courgette Flower, filled with Ricotta Cheese and Mint. On special occasions, you’ll be rewarded with something typical from the region – like Turron at Christmas time.

Our Executive Chef

The kitchen is helmed by Executive Chef Victor Caballé Molina.

Victor grew up in Spain and comes from a family of restaurateurs, sommeliers, pâtissiers and chefs. His grandfather, a great chef who cooked dishes from recipes handed down through generations, taught him to cook and pick fresh ingredients from his own garden. At 14, he learned to bake many variations of bread at a bakery owned by family friends.

Victor honed his skills at some of the world’s finest restaurants. His professional development began under the tutelage of Chef John-Philippe Patruno from the three Michelin star restaurant Chez Nico on London’s Park Lane and the critically acclaimed Fino and Barrafina. He later worked at the 88-year old world renowned Quo Vadis on London’s Dean Street, as well as at the well known Jose Pizarro restaurant on Bermondsy Street and at the W Hotel’s Spice Market, before moving to Singapore. In Singapore, Victor reunited with Chef Jean-Philippe Patruno at Bomba. Most recently, he was the Head Chef of The Study restaurant (Keong Saik Snacks) – one of Jason Atherton’s famed eateries.

The Wine Life

With wine in its name, the collection at Vida Vino spans from across the globe. Wines from Spain, Italy and France to New Zealand, Austria and California can be found here. The collection has been carefully selected with taste and quality in mind, featuring labels that may be off the beaten track yet are their wines are excellent, priced at great value.

The heavier reds pair fantastically with the Iberian ham platters and of course with the Iberico Pork Secreto. The light and crisp whites pair magically with the seafood dishes.

Even the drinks are special. The Vida Vino Sangria has proved very popular as it is loaded with liquor – Jack Daniels, Cointreau, Creme de Cassis, Cava – and fruits, including some coconut, which are blended together to make a ‘crystal clear’ Sangria. A Gin & Tonic is prepared using chardonnay to give it a crisp, refreshing taste.

Our Sommelier

Cruise Yang is a wine enthusiast turned sommelier. He is a somewhat unorthodox in the discipline, as he believes that wine is much more than simply a drink – it is a lifestyle choice, a mood or it represents an idea. He breathes life into a wine menu with his romantic descriptions because his philosophy is that the mental impression of the wine is as important as the taste of the wines themselves.

In 2009 Cruise opened a wine retail shop called “World of Wines”. In 2012 he partnered with Iconic Wines, Singapore’s largest Spanish wines distributor, to open ” E Plus Wine” at Dempsey Hill.Cruise is also the founder of “Man of wine”, a wine lover’s community where people are brought together, beyond our urban walls, one glass at a time.

Management

Aaron Olivera, El Presidente Vida Vino was conceived by Aaron Olivera, the Founder and President of the Vida Vino Group. Aaron is from Gibraltar, a UK colony on Spain’s southernmost tip. He has been travelling to Singapore for the past 15 years, working in different industries, from Training and Development, to Oil and Gas and Publishing. In 2010 Aaron decided to pursue his passion to create spaces that afford people with ultimate enjoyment. Aaron believes that life is too short to allow ourselves the luxury of living it badly, that life should be a party, a grand festival. At Vida Vino he ensures that the overall direction and ethos stays true to the core of helping to deliver happiness.

SoSoH Group – Investor & Operator

The principal investor and operator of Vida Vino is the SoSoH Group, a Singapore headquartered company, which is fast growing its lifestyle business group.  The SoSoH Group manages Vino Vido’s operations, finance and compliance. The intention is to develop and expand the brand across Asia while retaining an authentic Spanish experience for its patrons.  The SoSoH Group has interests in hotels, villas and restaurants in Bali and has plans to extend its lifestyle brand into Hong Kong, China & Taiwan over the next 2 years.

La Barca Receives Award of Excellence

26 May 2012, SINGAPORE – La Barca Ristorante & Wine Bar has received an Award Of Excellence for ‘Best New Restaurant, Western’ by The Peak Selections: Gourmet & Travel “G Restaurant Awards 2012”. “We are so happy to be recognized in such a prestigious manner” said chef Michele Sorrentino.

“We are very proud of our efforts. We have strived to position La Barca as an upmarket, yet casual restaurant. I want everyone to be able to experience my food, so we have a fine dining menu in the evening, hearty good food for lunch at a reasonable price and family brunches on the weekends,” continued Sorrentino.

“Our menu is designed to make all of our customers happy. We have people coming from the CBD during the week for lunch, those who prefer to escape the crowded inner city and discuss work in a relaxed manner. They only have a short drive to enjoy a delicious set lunch in quiet surroundings. We have couples and groups who want a romantic dinner in the evening,  and then on the weekends we have parents who want a leisurely family meal and to enjoy a glass of wine while their children play happily in the grounds.  The new parking arrangements have pleased the customers too!”

La Barca offers complimentary parking for guests at Block C, Goodman Arts Centre. Taxis may also drop off and pick up passengers at the same car park, which is beside the restaurant’s entrance

La Barca Ristorante & Wine Bar is owned and operated by Chef Michele Sorrentino and Christopher Tung. It is situated at the Goodman Arts Centre on the East Coast of Singapore. The restaurant has recently been recognised with an Award of Excellence for Best Restaurant, Western in The Peak Selections: Gourmet & Travel “G Restaurant Awards 2012” , a supplement to The Peak Singapore magazine.

eat2eat launches free app for Android users

Singapore – 19 December 2011 – eat2eat, the leading web-based reservation platform for restaurants, is now available on Android devices for customers’ ultimate convenience. Android users can now download the eat2eat app for free from Android Market, onto their Android phone or tablet device.

Despite only being launched in 2008, the Android mobile platform sees roughly 500,000 Android devices being activated per day globally, adding up to a user base which already exceeds that of Apple’s iOS. As one of the leading technology providers to Asia Pacific’s F&B technology sector, eat2eat chose to introduce their first App on the Android platform to advantage their customers. The App enables free restaurant table reservations, and has clear and easy to use instructions for diners who wish to make hassle-free reservations at any time of the day.

eat2eat’s application allows diners to log-in to a network full of restaurant listings, choose the preferred dining venue, and make a simple “one touch” reservation that is instantly confirmed. The android app permits users to make a booking at the restaurant of their choice at any time, day or night, and provides a straightforward confirmation number.

Amongst restaurateurs who have swapped the old black book for real-time online bookings, there has been marked increases in customer retention and front of house operations flow, leading to a rise in restaurant profitability.

“eat2eat’s goal is to increase convenience for both restaurants and diners,” says eat2eat’s CEO Vikram Aggarval. “With most people in Asian cities using smart phones, apps are the best way to connect the two and we will continue to develop new tools to enhance the dining experience.”

eat2eat’s system has become rapidly popular across Asia-Pacific, and is now used by many hotels, restaurants and restaurant groups, including Starwood Hotels, Michaelangelo’s Group and Brewerkz. eat2eat will be releasing an iPhone app early 2012.

Online Bookings for Restaurant Table Reservations Gets a Boost

Disclaimer: This media release is not for release, publication or distribution in or into the United States

SINGAPORE – eat2eat Pte Ltd, Asia Pacific’s leading online booking site for restaurants has received a strategic investment of USD 4 million from J. M. Chanrai of the Kewalram Chanrai Group. The funds will be used to expand operations into new markets, enhancing eat2eat’s existing software platforms and reinforcing eat2eat’s reputation as a pioneer and leader in the hospitality technology space.

eat2eat provides software solutions that allow restaurants to manage table reservations in real time online. Over the past decade, eat2eat’s solutions and services have been installed in over 1,200 establishments in Asia Pacific, including leading hospitality companies such as Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Marriot International, Hilton Hotels and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.

A Singapore company headed by Vikram Aggarwal, Chairman and CEO, eat2eat has three divisions-

  • an interactive website, http://www.eat2eat.com rated #1 by Google
  • its proprietary MaRc system software, http://www.marcsystem.com which offers state of the art table management and CRM technology and
  • the development and hosting of regional marketing dining programs

Aggarwal stated, “We are delighted to be partnering with Jagdish Chanrai , as he has a track record of delivering a certain depth to his portfolio companies. I am particularly pleased to have the opportunity of working with Mr. Chanrai as we look forward to aggressively market web based solutions to the restaurant industry.”

Restaurants can accept table reservations by managing their table inventory online, enabling online reservations with table allocation and instant confirmation, at the same time maximizing their revenue management opportunity. In addition, a real-time database of diner preferences may be securely maintained for marketing purposes. The number of phone calls and thereby disruptions to service are minimized.

The benefit for consumers is that they can book their preferred restaurants in real time, on-line at any time of their choosing and receive instant confirmation. With the rise in the use of smartphones and mobile applications, consumers prefer to book using technology rather than making a call.

Aggarwal also noted that the eat2eat software is extremely flexible and is configured to run a number of independent sites including Starwood Hotels and Resorts Asia Pacific dining site http://www.eatdrinkandmore.com. Additionally, if restaurants have their own website, the booking happens seamlessly through their website with the database being secured for the restaurant.

FANDANGO OPENS AT CHIJMES

“Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy.” – Benjamin Franklin

22 September 2011, SINGAPORE – We welcome you to come and experience Fandango, a unique Wine Bar in Singapore. Situated in the heart of Chijmes, Fandango provides a chic yet comfortable place to relax and unwind. It is a place to enjoy stimulating food and wine, a place to catch up with friends.

Fandango offers an eclectic and exciting menu featuring both traditional Spanish tapas as well as our signature Asian fusion menu which is served in the ‘tapas’ style. Our menu complements an extensive and original selection of wines.

Fandango has al fresco seating areas to the front and rear of the restaurant with ample seating and shade within the tranquil environs of Chijmes. The interior features dramatic oil paintings in the style of Pedro Alvarez, and the mood is set by the sounds of lounge, chill and dance music.

You will be surprised and delighted when a single glass of wine turns into an evening of great food, fabulous wine and animated conversation in the stylish environment that is Fandango.

About Us
Fandango was conceived by Emma Sebrof, a long standing member of the food and beverage industry in Asia. Emma gained a foothold in hospitality in Hong Kong, where she managed many restaurants for the Eclipse Management group including BOCA Tapas and Wine and the Caramba and Coyote Mexican restaurants. Emma moved to Singapore in 2008, when she helped establish and run the piano bar Howl at the Moon at Peranakan Place. She spent the past two years working as the Group General Manager for five pubs under the Gaelic Inns brand including Muddy Murphy’s and The Penny Black.  Fandango at Chijmes is the latest bar Emma has opened and is the realization of a long time dream of owning her own bar and restaurant.

Wine Selection
Fandango’s extensive and varied wine list comprises up to sixty of our personally selected wines. A varying selection of twenty of these wines is offered by the glass.

The wine selection represents all major wine producing nations with the exception of France. French wines are left to the French restaurants! Spanish wine producers such as Muga and Marques de Riscal feature prominently, as well as Australian and New Zealand favourites D’Arenberg, Kim Crawford, and Cloudy Bay. Wines from South America also have a place at Fandango, and varietals such as Torrontes, Bonarda and Malbec are on the list from this region. The wine list offers guests an opportunity to try something a little out of the ordinary, and because there are so many wines available by the glass you can dare to be different without the risk of investing in a whole bottle.

Tapas
Tapas at Fandango are a foodies joy and not to be missed. Tasty morsels explode with flavor and have you drooling for more. We’ve priced moderately so that you can experience the variety of our tapas.

We aren’t bound by geography either. Both classic Spanish tapas dishes, such as Albondigas and Gambas al Ajillo, and tapas-styled dishes from many other cuisines, like Egg Tofu with Prawns, Calamari with Mango Mayo and Asian Pork Patties with Black Pepper Sauce are featured on the menu. These “Tapas with a Twist” are served alongside the traditional dishes, just order as your mood takes you.

Whether you choose to dine in or simply relax with a drink, you will have a wonderful time at Fandango. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
